Patient Assistance Programs
Parkinson's Medication Assistance Programs
Don't assume your pharmacy price is your final price.
Many people living with Parkinson's disease don't realize that medication manufacturers, specialty pharmacies, and nonprofit organizations offer financial assistance that can reduce prescription costs—sometimes dramatically.
I learned this firsthand after nearly giving up on a prescription because of the cost. One phone call later, I discovered a patient assistance program that completely changed the outcome.
I've spent hours researching these programs so you don't have to.
This guide is updated regularly and includes official links to manufacturer assistance programs and independent financial assistance organizations.
Before You Pay Full Price...
Use this checklist before deciding a medication is too expensive.
☐ Ask if there's a manufacturer copay card.
☐ Ask if there's a Patient Assistance Program (PAP).
☐ Ask whether the medication should be filled through a specialty pharmacy.
☐ Ask whether prior authorization is required.
☐ Ask about charitable foundations that help Medicare patients.
☐ Call the manufacturer directly if you're unsure.

Final Thoughts
Living with Parkinson's is challenging enough—finding and affording the medications you need shouldn't be.
If there's one thing I hope you take away from this guide, it's this:
Don't stop after the first "no."
Ask another question.
Make one more phone call.
Reach out for help.
Sometimes the difference between paying full price and getting the medication you need is simply knowing where to look.
I'm rooting for you every step of the way.
